Hello Guys,

Firstly, I would like to thanks Hwa for the translation. It is good enough. We can have our discussion based on the translation.

I agree with Ghozze. Having dry food only for our shamas is not healthy for them. Shamas eating only dry food will die early. We give dry food to avoid them from starving. For a healthy shama we need to give variety of live food, vitamins, exercises (as frequently said by David). Exercises includes chying, put then in flight cage, etc.

Now, regarding the availablity of live food. I think, you are very lucky if your petshops are selling variety of live food. Here, in Brunei petshops only sells crikets, which cost B$1.00 for 8 to 10 crickets. B$1.00 = M$2.31 = S$1.00 = RP5500 = US$1.5 (estimation). You can see how expensive the crikets are in Brunei. I usually buy live food from the neighbouring countries which only sells crickets and mealworms. For anteggs, I have to get it myself from the forest but very seldom because time do not permit.

Continuation...

I emphasized again a healthy shama must eat live food, vitamins and must have exercises. (Correct me if I am wrong because I am not an expert, hehehe).

Now, back to dry food issue again. My question: Is there any difference, giving only one type of dry food or variety of dry food to our shamas? In my opinion, there is no difference in term of health. Shamas eating only dry food will get poor health.

1.草蜢多亦非最佳飼養方法,因其營養成份主要是碳水化合物 carbon hydrate.

草蜢多 = Giving more crikets

非最佳飼養方法 = Not the best method .

雞料 = Chicken feed dry food

2.飼養鳥,千萬別用雞料

= Chicken feed dry food not suitable for softbill bird.

Continuation again...

Sorry guys.. I have to break my posting into 3 parts.. my network is slow today..

I found it cheaper buying live food from the neighbouring countries (about 1 to 2.30 hrs driving depends on the traffic). I usually bought it in large amount. Unless no more stock, so I have to buy the expensive Brunei's crickets. (Its expensive because the petshops owner feed the crikets with gold dust........ just joking guys.. hehehehe) Ooohhh my god.. Look at the time, I've got to go now..

Cheers everybody...
Irwan
