Thank you. Since leafbirds are such glutton and do not seem to be able to self regulate, I had to step in.
He will not be getting that 6+6 on daily basis.

I think once every 10 days, he will get all the cucumber that he want to eat for that day. But mash cut to 2+6
And once every 10 days, he will get all the apple that he want to eat that day. But mash cut again to 1+1

Variety is important to man or to birdie. Feast and famine as in real life.

Of course, he will get his 2 cricket and about 20 meal worms daily all the time.

And good luck and lots of fun with your Tockus alboterminatus
Warmest regards

Thank you. I have no confidence in myself

Anyway, your writings and your journal has been very inspiring indeed. It gives readers a window to your life and your interactions with both people and animals. It shows the kind of person you are and the thoughts and ideas that is part of you. Thanks for sharing.

Back to training the Tockus, a few years ago I imported 10 clickers from U.S. (a time when it was near impossible to find clickers in Malaysia) presumable to train dogs. Now I can only find 1 at home and it is still in mint condition :rollinglough:
I think I better leave the Tockus in better hands first

Hi Shanlung,

I am a newbie to bird keeping, reading your journal on your journey with Yingshiong and Tingkerbell is really an inspiration, the time spend on training Yingshiong is really .... really..... well ! its the passion in you that bring you success in Yingshiong.

It took me a few days to read through the journals and the photos are really interesting, I will definately give in a try if I have the time.
I am sure words cannot descripe the feeling of success if one succeed in what you plan to achive.

Best regards.
Chan.

dance4rain,

You can get cheap good clickers at kids' toy shop such as toysrus or shop selling party things. In fact, even a ball point pen that open and shut with a click can be used as clicker.

You worry too much on clicker training. Just go and take it slow and easy, making sure you enjoy yourself and that time with the birdie, and you be ok.
Dont think of success, just think of it as bonding. Read my recent postings about a couple weeks ago in this thread on clicker training.

It is even more simple than what I wrote. It is your worry that is making it tough for you.

ffchan,

Thank you.

Take your time reading what I wrote. Those writings taken me about ten years. Full of my mistakes and blunders , which are probably more important to you than the things I done well. And done well by accident and good luck.

Friends,

Hope you all will enjoy this report. And the videos and recordings of the shama competition at Bishan 23 April.
