breeding

Postby Burongmurai » Thu Mar 27, 2014 2:10 am

I have a question for all the shama breeders here. After cleaning the aviary, the female has decided to build a nest for more than 3 hrs for the first time in 2 years and continues every now and then. Today is the third day and I see that the nest is almost fully formed, but the male does nothing regarding the nest and now I see changes in the female. She is a bit more aggressive than the male esp when it come to food or if the male getting too close to her while she is picking the coconut fiber. she will chase him away which has never happened before, usually is the other way round. my question, have they already been mating? is she ready to lay eggs? Or is she just preparing for mating. What could happen from here on? :cheerleaderkid:

Hi Bro,

Unfortunately many of the shama specialist not visiting the forum very frequent now... hence still no reply...

While for me, I just get into shama very recently hence too novice to advice on this... but if I recall correctly in some of the posting by the expert in this field (maybe somewhere in the forum - can't really remember  )... the male can be somehow aggressive if they are in 'mating season'
Best Regards,
Tanin

After mating, the female becomes dominant.
